Terms of Service

1. What LetSplitit is

LetSplitit ("we", "us", "the service") is a web app for viewing, splitting, and settling restaurant checks and other shared expenses. Diners can scan a table QR code, claim items, split a bill, and pay by card or digital wallet. Restaurants can subscribe to a portal for managing tables, bills, and QR codes.

2. We don't hold your money

All card and wallet payments are processed by Stripe. LetSplitit never receives, holds, or transmits your funds and never sees your full card number. Payment-app links (Venmo, Cash App, PayPal) open those third-party apps; any transfer happens entirely within them, under their terms.

3. The ledger is a scoreboard, not a debt

Karma, streaks, badges, the leaderboard, and "who owes what" records are informational and trust-based. They are not a debt instrument, invoice, or legal obligation, and we make no representation that any amount shown is owed or collectible.

4. Restaurant subscriptions

Restaurant portal access is offered as a flat subscription (currently $79/month per location; founding pricing subject to change with notice). Fees are billed in advance and non-refundable except where required by law. We may update pricing for future billing periods with at least 30 days' notice.

5. Acceptable use

• Don't use the service for anything unlawful, fraudulent, or deceptive.
• Don't attempt to disrupt, probe, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' data.
• Don't misrepresent bills, amounts, or payment status to deceive others.

6. Your content and accuracy

You're responsible for the accuracy of names, items, amounts, and payment handles you enter. Restaurants are responsible for the accuracy of bills they publish to tables.

7. Service is provided "as is"

The service is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features at any time.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the service is limited to the greater of $100 or the subscription fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for disputes between diners or between diners and restaurants.

9. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms; the "Last updated" date above will change and continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
